The 41-year-old veteran, brought out of retirement to ease the
Gunners keeper crisis, made a string of blunders in 2-1 defeat at
Wigan reserves.
First the German stopper allowed a back pass by Sead Hajrovic to
bobble over his foot.
It was similar to Paul Robinson's howler when he totally missed
his clearance following a Gary Neville back pass for England
against Croatia in 2006.
But this time Lehmann was more fortunate as the ball did not
find the net.
Lehmann was caught out again as striker Callum McManaman, 19,
rounded him to fire Wigan into a 53rd-minute lead.
Then the German was caught in possession only for Daniel Boateng
to save his blushes by blocking Daniel Redmond's shot.
But Lehmann's nightmare was complete in the 86th minute when sub
Joe Holt rounded the ring-rusty keeper to make it 2-0.
Rhys Murphy reduced the deficit from the penalty spot with
virtually the last kick of the game.
But Lehmann seemed unfazed by his horror show. He said: "It's
great to be back - I was surprised to get the call from
Arsene."
McManaman, a distant relative of ex-Liverpool ace Steve, said:
"It was great to score past Lehmann. He's still a great
keeper."
