I guess they can't use Tom Hicks and George Gillett as an excuse anymore for their bad display... Those guys are long gone...

Everton v Liverpool 8:30 Mio Channel 102 / 110

Dirk Kuyt and Daniel Agger were both injured on international duty on Tuesday night, giving Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson more to worry about ahead of the Merseyside derby on Sunday.

Kuyt's injury could be the more serious as he lasted only 29 minutes of Holland's game against Sweden before leaving with what appeared to be a bad ankle injury.

Agger, making his comeback from a groin problem, lasted only 39 minutes of Denmark's game against Cyprus.

According to the Liverpool website, both players will be assessed on their return to Melwood before any decision is made about the weekend.

Rushed to hospital: Dirk Kuyt landed awkwardly on his ankle after jumping for a header

Rushed to hospital: Dirk Kuyt landed awkwardly on his ankle after jumping for a header

Liverpool's season appears to have gone from bad to worse as Dirk Kuyt suffered a serious ankle injury that could rule him out for the rest of the year in Netherlands' 4-1 Euro qualifying win over Sweden.

In a further blow for Roy Hodgson, defender Daniel Agger had to come off in the first half of Denmark's clash with Cyprus, throwing his comeback from a groin problem in doubt ahead of the weekend's crucial Merseyside derby against Everton.

Dutch forward Kuyt was taken to hospital in an ambulance after landing awkwardly following an aerial challenge in the first half. Netherlands coach Bert van Marwijk said he feared the injury was "serious" and that initial predictions forecasted a long time on the sidelines for Kuyt.

Kuyt's absence will test Liverpool's attacking depth as the club, currently languishing in the relegation zone.

Up for the fight: Glen Johnson is targeting a Liverpool win on Sunday

Up for the fight: Glen Johnson is targeting a Liverpool win on Sunday

Glen Johnson cannot wait to sample the 'intense' atmosphere in Sunday's Merseyside derby, declaring it unique in the football world.

The England defender has experienced London derbies while a player at West Ham and Chelsea but says nothing compares to the passion in Liverpool for their two clubs.

Johnson got his first taste of the clash between the Red and Blue halves of Merseyside in Liverpool's 2-0 win at Goodison Park last November, and far from shy away from the hostile atmosphere, the right-back insists he enjoys the friendly confrontation with Everton fans.

Form at last: Everton go into the derby on the back of their first Premier League win of the season, 2-0 at Birmingham earlier this month

'The Merseyside derby is different to any other I've played in,' he said. 'The Liverpool area is so passionate about football. You're either a Red or a Blue.

'Where I grew up in London people supported all different teams but here it's one or the other. It's what you live for.

'You can sense when a derby is coming because of the build-up the week before. It's so intense.

'I've got to know plenty of Everton fans since moving here and they aren't afraid to give you some stick. The guy who I rent my house from is a Blue and he loves it. But the banter is great and unique.

'To win any derby you need to fight and stick together. That's what we'll do.'

• Midfielder injured playing for Belgium against Austria
• Phil Jagielka also likely to miss Merseyside derby

The Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini has been ruled out for up to six weeks with a hamstring injury sustained while on international duty with Belgium.

The 22-year-old was hurt playing in Belgium's Euro 2012 qualifier against Austria in midweek, in which he scored one of his country's goals in a 4-4 draw. The injury is a fresh setback for Fellaini, who missed the final three months of last season after damaging ankle ligaments in a Merseyside derby against Liverpool. The Everton manager David Moyes said: "It is a very big blow because he is an important player for us."

Liverpool are Everton's next opponents at Goodison Park on Sunday. The Everton defender Phil Jagielka is also unlikely to feature after suffering a hamstring injury in training with England. Moyes added: "He is not as bad as we first thought but it may just come too quick for him – that is the way it is looking at this moment in time."

Louis Saha, who has been out since August with a calf problem, is also unlikely to return. The new injuries came in the same week the youngster Ross Barkley, who has been on the bench for the last four games, broke a leg.

since like everton are the one who is attacking like crazy

Everton are burning a lot of energy in this half and if they don't get something from it, they could be made to pay for it in the second half when they become tired.

And Gerrard again not for the first time got away with another bad tackle... I wonder what he must do to be given a card... ?

i will also fed up if i’m him..no service at all from center or flank…how can u score a goal when only him in the box versus 5-6 everton’s defender?

Y_Shun SG

Yup thats why...

I think unless Hogson improves the tactic or sign a striker to partner Torres, I expect him to leave Liverpool by Winter.
