Manchester United are
expected to wait to sign Standard
Liege star Steven Defour.
The Daily Mail says United are firm admirers of Defour
and have pondered making a move over the summer but look
increasingly like leaving it another 12 months to see how well
Defour picks up after a rusty return from injury.
A talented player, he will attract interest from around Europe
but United are willing to take that chance.
They are also throwing the gauntlet down to their own
underperforming midfielders Michael Carrick and Anderson to battle
back to full fitness and form while they are still hoping Owen
Hargreaves can come back from America with a chance of resurrecting
his career.
