Barcelona star
Lionel Messi rates
Manchester United ace Wayne
Rooney as a better player than Real
Madrid's Cristiano
Ronaldo.
Rooney had to play second fiddle to Ronaldo while they were together at United.
Messi told the Daily Star Sunday: “At the moment, there
are maybe Ronaldo, Rooney, Xavi and one or two more – but I can’t
think of one that plays with the desire of Rooney.
“We all know football players at the top level are blessed with
high wages – it’s no secret.
“But Rooney would play for 100 euros-a-week. You can see the
fire in his eyes. It’s that fire that makes him the best of the
best.
“If Rooney is ever sold, I think he will become the first
100million euro player. With all respect to Ronaldo, I think Rooney is a more important
player for United than he was.
“Ronaldo’s ability is undoubted but Rooney is not only the
talent but also the heart of the Manchester United team.”
