Glen Johnson: Injured in this challenge with Gabi
Agbonlahor
Liverpool defender Glen Johnson will be sidelined for at
least a month due to a knee problem but the club are seeking a
second opinion before placing a definitive timescale on his
recovery.
Despite lingering fears that the injury could prove a long-term
one, Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez will only confirm that Johnson
will miss at least the next four weeks of the season.
The club have opted to send the England international to another
specialist before elaborating further on his rehabilitation
period.
"Johnson has a problem, so he'll see a specialist and then we'll
talk but we know he'll be out for at least one month," Benitez told
the club's official website. "But we are waiting for another
opinion and then we'll know how long."
If Johnson is sidelined for longer than a month then he could
miss the Merseyside derby against Everton on February 6 as well as
Liverpool's trip to Arsenal on February 10.
Following his £18 million transfer from Portsmouth in the
summer, Johnson has made 17 Premier League starts for
Liverpool.
