I dunnoe leh, I love both – cuz I study C before, and I like Java’s mobile agent support.

sch wan us to learn C
they say is outdated already..
but wan us to haf foundation in programmng

is it bery bery outdated??
they say newest is C# and .NET

Ito_^ SG

C is very outdated, but its the most comprehensive language there is, cuz you can do alot with it. Now its C++, most popular.. c# and .NET are mainly used for web services de.

Web services are applications that provide services to other applications over internet or network. .NET runs on a common framework so you can use C#, J#, VB.NET, etc and still get the same application. Mostly online stuff de. C++ is mainly for windows programming de, like program Diablo. Laughing

SnowFlag SG

Forget about what they say: C isn't outdated

C# is developed to compete with Java in the enterprise and web services.
So C/C++ and C# are really for different purposes.

eheh.. back to original topic leh. Laughing

C out-dated? windows, linux, unix is programmed in C..and they still are....except for windows now MAYBE mixture of C++ as well.

java vs C++...java was derived after C++, minus away confusing features(like -> pointers etc) and plopping in good features (e.g. single root)

ppl find java easier as it is more OO - requires object object object, for data items and functions must be member of some stupid class. bo global variable nor functions. but slower than C++ coz byte code.

InnoHippo SG

C isn't outdated Cool
It is used for programming low-cost embedded systems Wink

throws my java books down the chute.

Very Happy

SnowFlag SG

C is also used in games programming. It is commonly known that C is generally faster than C++, because C is closer to the way the computer executes the code.

SnowFlag SG

why?

emulate java garbage collection?
