Gerrard: wants a league winner's
medal.
The Liverpool skipper has played 494 games for the
Reds, scoring 123 goals, and could play his 500th match away at
Lyon next month.
He said: "It's something that I'm really proud of, to
be getting close to 500 games for Liverpool. "Growing up, it was
always my dream to play for Liverpool and I'd have been happy as a
kid kicking a ball about if I only got to play one game for the
club, so to have got to 500 games will mean a lot to me and my
family and friends."
Gerrard, 29, could soon overtake Reds legend Kenny
Dalglish, who made 515 appearances for the club, scoring 172 goals
and winning 19 pieces of major silverware.
The England ace said: "When the people above you on the
list of appearances are people like Kenny Dalglish then it's
special to be in that kind of company.
"Kenny is a legend — one of the greatest footballers of
all time — so to have played for this club as many times as he has
would be extra special.
"But Kenny won league titles, European Cups and every
other kind of honour in his Liverpool career and that's what I want
too for myself and for this team.
"I don't just want to play games, I want to be a part
of a Liverpool side that is in there winning prizes, year in and
year out."
