Barcelona striker Eidur
Gudjohnsen has turned down a surprise offer from Manchester City.
The Sunday Mirror says the Icelander is now in
negotiations with French giants Monaco and is expected to complete
a deal within the next 48 hours.
The only stumbling block amounts to negotiations over a pay-off
from the Catalan giants who are prepared to give the former
Chelsea star a free transfer
with 12 months remaining on his contract.
City made their move for Gudjohnsen 72 hours ago but it proved
too late to scupper the deal to Monaco after Gudjohnsen had agreed
to join them.
Three other Premier League
clubs, Portsmouth,
West Ham and Stoke has all tried
in vein to negotiate a deal with the Icelandic marksman.
