Klaas-Jan Huntelaar has agreed to join Stuttgart from Real
Madrid, despite being linked with Premier League rivals Arsenal and
Tottenham.
The Gunners were rumoured to be contemplating a late bid for the
striker after the sale of Emmanuel Adebayor to Manchester City but
the offer reportedly never came.
Tottenham have also been linked with the 25-year-old for some
time but it was said that the North Londoners failed to make a
substantial bid.
Stuttgart are keen to replace striker Mario Gomez after his
departure to Bayern Munich earlier this summer and it now looks
likely that they have secured their man for a reported
£20million.
Huntelaar has only been at the Bernabeu six months but following
the big money signings of attacking trio Kaka, Cristiano Ronaldo
and Karim Benzema, the frontman is seen as surplus to
requirements.
The player's advisor Arnold Oosterver refused to confirm the
move but did say a decision would be made on Monday.
"There is no decision made actually," he told the Deutsche
Presseagentur.
"The only thing for sure at this point is that it will be this
Monday when he says yes or no to those offers that are on the
table."
Despite his short stay in Spain Huntelaar still possesses an
enviable scoring record, with eight goals from 20 appearances.
