Real Madrid have stepped back
from negotiations for Liverpool
midfielder Xabi Alonso.
AS says Real have decided to withdraw from talks for
ten days as they assess their market options.
Christian Purslow, the new executive director of
Liverpool, is waiting for Real
to make a new offer for Xabi, with manager Rafa Benitez refusing to budge from his £35
million valuation.
Real are eager to drive down the cash component and are offering
several players to Benitez to consider in part-exchange.
