PRIDE ... Almunia would love to pull
on Three Lions jersey
Arsenal's Spanish keeper today becomes eligible for a
British passport after chalking up five years in this country.
He has been linked with a controversial call-up to
Fabio Capello's squad - and now that could become a reality.
The 32-year-old stopper insists he would be as chuffed
as a player born and bred in Bradford, Barnsley or Bermondsey to
wear the Three Lions on his chest.
He said: "It is almost impossible for me to be called
up by Spain.
"But it would be an honour if the England coach counted
on me."
Almunia would face competition from David James, Rob
Green, Ben Foster, Scott Carson and Paul Robinson for a place in
Capello's squad for the World Cup finals.
