Atletico
Madrid's president believes that his
club already have a player that is better than Karim
Benzema in the shape of top
goalscorer Diego
Forlan.
Enrique Cerezo has been wholly unimpressed by Real Madrid's
spending this summer and insists that while the Frenchman maybe
highly rated by some, he is not as good as his Uruguayan
striker.
Forlan won the Spanish Pichichi as la Primera's top scorer last
term and also scooped his second European Golden Boot award with 32
goals in 33 games for Los Colchoneros.
While Benzema is set to be presented after his €41 million move
from Olympique Lyonnais, Cerezo would not consider exchanging
Atletico's star performer.
"Even I was able to, I would not swap Benzema for Forlan," he was
quoted as saying by AS.
"Up until now, Benzema has never won the Golden Boot and I have a
player here that has won it not just once, but twice.
"The thrill in football can never be taken away though. While an
agent may have the belief that Benzema will be the best player in
the world, I think the same about Forlan."
