Zhirkov has revealed he's Blackburn mad!
"You probably won't believe it, but I once cheered on
Blackburn," said Chelsea new boy
Zhirkov, who passed a three-hour medical on Monday and today
trained with his new team-mates for the first time.
The £18million signing from CSKA Moscow had not been expecting
to kick a ball at Cobham, arriving in London on Sunday with just a
couple of days' clothes - and not a Blackburn scarf in sight.
"I didn't come to England ready for work,' he joked. 'I have
just two shirts and two pairs of jeans. When I told Chelsea, they
laughed, of course. 'Don't worry,' they said, 'we'll give you kit
and boots'.
"I've been welcomed very warmly and feel like I've already been
here a long time. I look forward to starting work properly with
Chelsea."
