Once he leaves, Michael Owen will have cost Newcastle United HALF of the £90 million Mike
Ashley is expected to sell the club for this week, it has been
revealed.
The People says Owen will be due to an extra £500,000
from cash-strapped Newcastle if he does not find a new club by
August 1. The 29-year-old striker's four-year deal at St James'
Park runs out on Tuesday and neither the club nor the player have
shown much interest in a new one.
But Owen will still be entitled to another month's wages from
Newcastle while he searches for a new club. And with Owen picking
up a staggering £108,000 a week, it's not news Newcastle or their
beleaguered fans want to hear.
By the time he leaves, Owen will have cost Newcastle £45m over
four years - for a return of 30 goals.
