A vengeful Arsene Wenger has promised that the best is
yet to come from his Arsenal side.
Arsenal's manager expressed his satisfaction and belief
following his side’s latest Premier League victory.
The fourth-placed Gunners once again impressed and claimed three
more points from their trip to Newcastle on Saturday evening, live
on Setanta Sports.
The Frenchman believes that his team were
‘underestimated’ by a part of the media, but he is happy that his
young squad are proving their detractors wrong.
“I think it was a very, very strong performance today,” Wenger
told Setanta Sports..
“They [Newcastle] put us under pressure and both sides had
chances [to score] in the first half.
“I think we deserved to win today.”
He added: “Many people underestimated the strength of this team,
we have shown that recently and I’m very pleased.
“The players are showing that they are ready for the fight.”
“I feel that what is interesting is that we go from strength to
strength and we keep our spirit up. Our players are young and can
only improve. When you are 20, 21...”
Match referee Mark Halsey awarded Newcastle a very generous
penalty in the first half, but Manuel Almunia comfortably saved
Obafemi Martin’s poor effort.
Wenger called it a ‘harsh’ decision.
He said: “For my side it looked harsh, you should have to see it
again, but to me it was harsh.
“But fortunately our keeper saved it.”
