Ryan Giggs has pin-pointed Xabi Alonso and Steven
Gerrard as the biggest rivals to his and Nemanja Vidic’s chance of
being named PFA Footballer of the Year.
Giggs is among the front-runners for this season’s award,
despite starting only NINE of 29 league matches this season –
scoring one goal.
The United veteran stands alongside team-mate Vidic as
favourites for the award, but Giggs believes they face stiff
competition from two of United’s fiercest rivals.
Xabi Alonso has been THE consistent performer in the Liverpool
side this season, while Gerrard has surged back to form – scoring
19 goals in all competitions.
"Gerrard and Alonso have been terrific this season," Giggs told
United Review.
"Frank Lampard has had another good season as well so there are
a lot of players who have done really well."
