Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed that
Wayne Rooney will be on the substitutes' bench for Manchester
United's clash with Fulham on Wednesday.
The striker suffered a hamstring strain during
United's home victory over Wigan last month and has missed seven
games.
It was thought that he could return for the FA Cup tie at Derby
on Sunday but Ferguson opted not to rush him back.
The United manager has been pleased with Rooney's progress over
the last couple of days and intends to select him in his squad to
face the Cottagers.
"The plan is for Wayne Rooney to be involved tomorrow night and
he will start on the bench," Ferguson told Key103.
"We have handled him in the right way.
"He is training now. His performances have been excellent and he
is back to his best.
"The decision not to involve him on Sunday was a good one
because he was able to train and that extra day has brought him on
a lot."
Carlos Tevez and Dimitar Berbatov are expected to start up front
as United look to open up a five-point lead at the top of the
Premier League table.
