Robin van Persie feels Arsenal made a statement of
intent with Saturday’s 2-1 win over Manchester United.
Arsenal were in danger of losing touch with their Premier League
title rivals following the draw with Tottenham and loss to Stoke,
but they roared back with a home win over the champions.
Van Persie missed the game on account of suspension, but was a
keen spectator and feels The Gunners threw down a marker to their
rivals.
The Dutchman feels the win proves The Gunners have the quality
to fight for the title, but admits there are concerns as to why
they can beat the big guns only to struggle against the
supposed minnows.
”We continue to play football as we always do,” Van Persie told
Sport 1 in his native Holland.
”These are three very important points. If you look at how we
played, it is a shame that it is against the likes of Stoke and
Fulham that we have problems with.
”It is difficult to explain, but I think we have made a clear
statement that we will be in the fight for the title.”
