Luiz Felipe Scolari will have Didier Drogba to call upon
from the bench for Chelsea’s game against Sunderland on Saturday,
but will be without Ricardo Carvalho for upto a month.
Original diagnoses of the hamstring injury sustained by Carvalho
against Hull in midweek suggested he would be out for three weeks,
but Scolari says it is likely to be nearer the end of November
before the Portugal defender is back.
“It will be one month for Carvalho, it's two weeks minimum
without training, then recovery work,” he said.
"He'll play for us after a month. He'll be a big loss. When I
bring one player back, I lose another. That's how it's going for me
at the moment at Chelsea."
That returning player is Drogba, who is ready to make his latest
comeback from a knee injury in what is fast becoming a truncated
season for the Ivorian.
“Drogba is with us and will be on the bench," added Scolari.
