France star Karim Benzema has admitted that it would be
a ‘dream’ to join Real Madrid.
The Lyon forward, 20, is one of the most sought-after young
players in world football, and Barcelona said this week that they
intended to continue their pursuit of the player despite having
been rebuffed this summer.
However, there are rumours that Madrid sports director Predrag
Mijatovic has already made contact with Lyon president Jean-Michel
Aulas, and Benzema has now reportedly stated his desire to join
Barca’s league rivals.
“If they can convince the president, to play in Madrid would be
a dream,” he is quoted as telling Spanish newspaper AS.
Aulas has already stated that Lyon have put a €100m (£80m)
buy-out clause into Benzema’s contract.
