Modric: Looking to fire Tottenham into the top
four.
Tottenham's
Croatian star Luka Modric says he will repay the club's faith him
by bringing Champions League football to White Hart Lane. The
£16.5million summer siging from Dinamo Zagreb is convinced that
Juande Ramos' men can break into the top four, with the 22-year-old
excited by the wealth of talent accrued at N17.
The arrivals of Modric, Heurelho Gomes, David Bentley and
Giovani dos Santos have cushioned the blow of the departure of
Robbie Keane to Liverpool.
Despite the uncertain future of mercurial striker Dimitar
Berbatov, the Croatian schemer is convinced the club is headed for
big things.
Modric said: 'I will justify the money Tottenham invested in me.
The first target has to be to threaten the big four. 'We’re capable
of achieving some really good results,' he told The Sun.
Modric's comments echo those of Brazilian keeper Gomes, who
remarked: 'I am not thinking of just making it into the first
four.' 'I am thinking of winning, being first or second, in that
range. Some people might say I am aiming very high, but that has
always been my thinking. 'I think as a champion and I want to win,'
Gomes added.
