The Ukranian hitman returned to AC Milan this summer, where he
had spent seven years from 1999-2006 collecting plenty of
silverware and personal awards. His spell at Chelsea was far less
successful, and his return to the Rossoneri has been turbulent so
far.
Milan have lost both of their domestic matches this campaign,
but picked up a much needed victory in the UEFA Cup on Thursday as
they overcame Zurich 3-1 at the San Siro.
Shevchenko is looking to rediscover to his old habits at Milan
and was pleased with his output against Zurich. "It was the first
game that I have felt good in for such a long time," he
revealed.
"I feel like I am on the right track, but I'm aware that I still
have plenty of work to do," said Shevchenko, who has yet to score
since rejoining Milan, but had a hand in two of the goals in the
victory on Thursday.
Milan's next match is against early season league leaders Lazio,
who have impressed so far in commanding wins over Cagliari and
Sampdoria.
"Now it will be important for us to win against Lazio on Sunday
so that we don't fall further behind in the championship," he
explained. "It will be a tough match but we are looking to get some
results for our efforts.”
Shevchenko may start this encounter on the bench as coach Carlo
Ancelotti looks to experiment with different offensive options.
