Barcelona star Yaya Toure has claimed that he turned
down a potential move to Arsenal over the summer, telling Arsene
Wenger and his brother Kolo he was not willing to leave
Barcelona.
The Gunners were widely linked with the Ivory Coast
international after losing Mathieu Flamini to Milan on a free
transfer and Yaya has now confirmed that the North London side were
indeed interested in bringing him to Emirates Stadium.
However, when apparently contacted by the Gunners manager and
his brother, the defensive midfielder instructed them he was not
ready to leave Camp Nou after just one season with Barca.
“Wenger, as well as my brother told me to join Arsenal during
the summer, but I answered them that I was happy at Barcelona,"
Toure told RAC-1.
