Milan have been in the hunt for a centre-back for some
time now due to persistent injuries picked up by Alessandro Nesta
and Paolo Maldini. The Rossoneri have already sold Dario Simic and
Digao, while their proposed move for Chelsea defender Branislav
Ivanovic fell through at the last minute.
That left coach Carlo Ancelotti with a defensive headache, and
the loan signing of 23-year-old Senderos ensures Milan have cover
at the back with the new Serie A season starting this Saturday.
Milan also have the option to make the move permanent for a set
fee next summer, and a transfer to the San Siro would seem likely
as the Swiss international has fallen down the pecking order at
Arsenal.
Manager Arsene Wenger signed Mickael Silvestre from Manchester
United last week - a firm indication that he does not see Senderos'
future at the Emirates.
Senderos made 74 Premier League appearances, scoring four goals,
after his move to London from Servette in Dec 2002.
