Tottenham have reportedly agreed a £20 million
deal to sign Valencia striker David Villa. Villa has attracted
plenty of headlines with his goal-scoring form for Spain at Euro
2008, and has been linked with a host of top clubs since it became
clear Valencia were willing to sell.
Chelsea, Arsenal, Real Madrid and Barcelona have all
been touted as possible buyers. However, the Sunday Mirror claims Villa has been Spurs'
No 1 target for some time and that manager Juande Ramos has said he
will pay the £20m asking price.
It had been reported that Villa did not want to leave
Valencia, but the Spanish international has since come out and
said: "In the event that Valencia told me they were going to sell
me then I would address my options.
"It's an issue between the clubs. It's not something
I'm thinking about. "My focus is on this tournament and making sure
Spain do well. This is not a time to be thinking about my personal
future."
