The Blaugrana economic vice-president stated that the Catalan
club would never pay that much for one player because it would it
would go beyond what was acceptable.
While Madrid continue to clamour for the Portuguese star to join
them, Soriano said that while Barça could afford to join the
bidding, it would no be sensible.
"There is no limit for what we can spend. But the marker has to be
common sense," he explained. "That is an example of no common sense
and Barça would not do that."
Soriano then revealed that talks with clubs about off-loading
Ronaldinho, Deco and Samuel Eto'o were all taking place and
indicated that deals could be reached soon.
"They are going well and are advanced," he said.
Finally, the Barça money man revealed that the club is being run on
sporting values and not on commerical lines and in another sly dig
at Madrid, stated that selling merchandise was not a
priority.
"It does not worry us much if we sell a certain number of replica
shirts or not," he concluded.
