Holland coach Marco van Basten believes the pressure will be on France to go all-out attack in Friday's Group C clash in Bern. The stunning 3-0 victory over world champions Italy in their opening game has taken some of the heat off the Dutch ahead of their last two pool matches.

France, on the other hand, have faced a barrage of criticism back home following their lacklustre performance in the goalless draw with Romania, and will be desperate to kickstart their Euro 2008 campaign with a win in their second outing.

Van Basten admits the goalposts have moved after the opening round of fixtures. "We have already beaten Italy, so our position is different now," said the former AC Milan striker. "If one team has to attack tomorrow (Friday), it is France and not Holland. "We have in our mentality a desire to go forward, but maybe we can take the middle ground. "But we know that France are serious opponents. They have a lot of experience and it will be a tough game."

Some of the pressure may be off Holland in terms of qualifying for the knock-out phase, but they have now been thrust among the tournament favourites following their superb win over the Italians.

Van Basten has urged his players to maintain their focus and not get carried away by the perfect start. "We have played a good game against Italy, but it was only one game," he added. "We can't play the whole tournament on the back of just one game. We have to keep our feet on the ground, and start all over again.

"It will be different for us now after this. Everyone can see Holland are playing well so all the games are going to be difficult because our situation is different."

del piero old already, pirlo... can't consider a "star" quality player lah...

for me i tink pirlo is one of the best playmaker around.

zocoss SG

For me he seems like just another above average midfielder... nothing special, even a coming to 29 yrs old Deco seems better than him...

gunner77 SG

i would prefer pirlo over deco.

zocoss SG

How did Romania keep the score at 0 - 0 over the last 5 mins... lol

So many chances Italy...
