Luis Figo has admitted he will leave Inter Milan
if Roberto Mancini remains as coach for next season. The
35-year-old, who joined the Italian champions three seasons ago,
has struggled to win a place in the team under Mancini and will
look to move on if he continues as coach.
"If Internazionale get a new manager, I will have more incentive
to carry on playing, otherwise it will be impossible", he said in
Bucharest, where he was attending a charity game hosted by former
Romania stars Gheorghe Popescu and Gheorghe Hagi.
Figo admitted he could have performed better this season, but
insisted he was fit enough to continue playing. He added: "I did
not have a pleasant season. I acknowledge I could have done more,
despite the injuries I suffered and the operation. "I am in the
condition to play for another season."
Figo also revealed he would like former Chelsea boss - and
fellow Portuguese - Jose Mourinho to take over at the San Siro.
Asked if he would like the one-time Porto coach to come to Inter,
Figo replied: "Absolutely, yes".
