The Nigerian forward admits he is still committed to the
Tyneside club, but is growing ever more frustrated by his failure
to hold down a regular position in Kevin Keegan’s team.
Martins recently showed a public display of annoyance when
substituted against Birmingham, and he was taken off for the last
quarter of an hour of yesterday’s win over Fulham.
Michael Owen and Mark Viduka were both starters and both got
themselves on the scoresheet. The Nigerian international has
now confessed that he may have to consider his future at St. James’
Park should the current situation continue.
"I am not the kind of player that will stay at the club without
playing because I want to play" he said.
"I really, really want to play. I really, really want to help
the team by scoring goals so, if I am not playing; it's a little
bit difficult for me."
