Emmnanuel Adebayor admits he is desperate to beat
Cristiano Ronaldo to the Golden Boot award this season and make it
a dream double.
Adebayor has had a sensational campaign for Arsenal, netting 19
times in the Premier League, but is two goals behind the United
winger. He would love to finish top to repay the faith which
Thierry Henry showed in him at the start of the season and for
Arsenal to win the title.
Adebayor said: "As a footballer you have to have a lot of
ambition. The boss says you have to take it and you cannot wait for
tomorrow. "Don't wait for next season or two years time because you
never know what is going to happen. At the moment I am having a
good race with Ronaldo for the Golden Boot.
"I am a striker and cannot let myself be dominated by one
midfielder. He is a great player and a fantastic footballer. But I
just want to prove that I can score more goals and if I can win the
Golden Boot and the title there will be nothing better for me.
"When Thierry signed for Barcelona he told me I would score more
than 30 goals. If I can get to 30 it will be for Thierry because he
believed that I could do it."
Adebayor says he has been taken aback by the support the Arsenal
fans have shown towards him and is determined to win the title for
them and end four-years of disappointment.
