Ashley Cole has appealed against the red card he received
in Chelsea's Boxing Day draw with Aston Villa.
An exhilarating game in the capital ended in a 4-4 stalemate that
saw three players sent-off, with Villa's Zat Knight and now Cole
having lodged appeals.
The England defender was dismissed in stoppage time by referee Phil
Dowd after it was adjudged he had handled Gabriel Agbonlahor's
header on the line.
Gareth Barry scored the resulting penalty but like Knight, Cole has
appealed for leniency from the Football Association.
An FA regulatory commission will consider both appeals on
Friday.
