Little info on 3rd/4th place (Singapore Cup Final):
Bangkok University claim third place after narrow win over
Woodlands
Bangkok University claimed third place in their first appearance in
the RHB Singapore Cup after edging Woodlands Wellington 1-0 in the
playoff match on Saturday evening at Jalan Besar Stadium.
Suriya Domtaisong, omitted from the Thai side's starting lineup for
this match, came off the bench to score the only goal of the game
on 74 minutes, striking from 35 yards out to beat Yazid
Yasin.
Woodlands Wellingtons ambition of wrapping up their season with a
win and third place medals in the Cup was dashed by a thoroughly
articulate Bangkok University team.
The Thais won 1-0 with a brilliant individual goal from Domtaisong
after the Rams had failed to put away their chances all through the
first half and then in much of the second.
In addition, Woodlands had no joy with referee T Aravinthan, with a
strong penalty claim turned down on the hour mark after striker
Laakkad Abdelhadi came down under a challenge from University
defender Kriangkrai Chasang, when trying to get on the end of a
left-sided cross from Zahid Ahmad.
The ball ran beyond the far post and nothing eventually came of
what appeared to be a very promising moment for the Rams.
