He might as well take away the 4th UCL spot given to the Italians too. THe English & Italian 4th UCL spots can be given to the SPL and Turkish champs.

UEFA president Michel Platini has criticised Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger and other clubs who buy players at a young age.

Wenger is famous for investing in burgeoning talent and developing youngsters into major stars.

But Platini is not a fan of his fellow Frenchman's strategy and told the BBC Sport Website: "I do not like the system of Arsene Wenger.

"In France, Italy and Spain it is easy to buy with money the best players at 14, 15 or 16. I don't like that."

He added: "If the best clubs buy the best 15 or 16 players that is finished for all the clubs in Europe.

"If my son is playing at Millwall and at 16 Manchester come in for this player then when will Millwall have a good team?"

What does Platini know about management..

he's just jealous of aw.

??? What's wrong with investing in youth? I think Arsenal is just doing what any other club would do. Why single them out?

Also, why hold back the young player if he got the chance to play at a higher level of football?

iveco SG

Millwall can always train another youngster to replace the one sold to Man Utd.

Anyway, with the $$ from selling their yount talented players, they can buy new and better ones too, can't they? Rolling Eyes

if the player is good what makes platini think he will want to stay at millwall, even if no big club approaches.

The man who was death SG

it is not easy to just train another younster that is as good as the sold one.....some clubs dun even have money for an academy now....think crewe alexandra. they just keep selling their best young players and in the end they can't even produce younsters anymore....and new youngsters coming in are maybe not even as talented as the old ones....

i dun think the small clubs get much money selling their 16 yrs old cos they haven't even got a pro contract yet so the big clubs are just paying compensation fees around 1 or 2 mil to get them....aaron lennon, pennant cost just 1mil...

so basically small clubs with no much money to sign players need to count on younsters coming through but they are taken away by the bigger clubs, let's not even talk stopping them from becoming a good team, some of them can't even survive in their respective leagues.............

there isn't much of a prob if it was 18, 19 yrs old and the big clubs pay good money for them but 15, 16 yrs old there's a bit of exploiting

what the heck is he thinking? Laughing

only millwall??

for me, wenger is the manager paid in British pound, but destroying english football..

He is using the money in arsenal and building players that are destroying England's hope of winning anything.

Platini is just trying to move people's view to another angle. throw some smoke only.

but the truth, wenger is helping french soccer team as a whole, plus all others nations, except england.

chelsea is not, MUFC is not, and Liverpool is not.

hiphop2009 SG

why millwall instead of other teams?

iveco SG

You forgot that Roy Reane is doing the RoI team a favour too. Half the Black Cats hail from Eire. Laughing

Li4nGsteR SG

Cause england’s are over-priced n over-rated. Micah Ricards is worth around 10million, but the price is at least 25million where u can get a kolo toure for less than a million what will you choose? well so arsenal by not buying these overpriced talents they did not spoil england.

zocoss SG

Err... He has coach the French national side before... even Wenger hasn't done that yet... And he was named European Coach of the Year by El País and Manager of the Year by the World Soccer Awards after a record 19-match unbeaten run including notable victories away to Spain and Czechoslovakia...

LazerLordz SG

Not in contemporary times, and never for a club, IIRC..

Coaching a national team is nothing compared to building a club.

ass-enal won epl before also, he kpkb for what Laughing

the young team is doing well somemore

4getmenot SG

can milwall be a good team with young good player? or can a young player actually have a good chance for further development if he was to stay in a non-league club?? platini shud ask this himself before he start blabbering like blatter..

iveco SG

Haha, yes. Good point indeed. Exclamation
