A brief look at the players he signed during his time at the
club, and how well they performed.
January 2005
Emil Hallfredsson - a youngster who never made the grade
Michael Dawson - may have struggled lately, but overall a vital
part of the side
Andy Reid - showed signs of promise, but never quite got
there
Radek Cerny - A decent back-up keeper
Mido - Was a vital part of the side in his first spell, and a
forgotten man in his second, but all told, he scored more than
enough goals to be considered a success
Summer 2005
Paul Stalteri - a dubious one, not particularly popular, but a
decent squad player, and let's not forget the winner at West
Ham
Wayne Routledge - Loaned out for two consecutive seasons and has
made only five appearances in a Spurs shirt
Tom Huddlestone - Still only 20 years old, and definitely a very
talented player
Aaron Lennon - May have faltered lately, but was instrumental in
his first season at the club
Teemu Tainio - A dependable midfielder, and often an unsung
hero
Mounir El-Hamdoui - Never played a game
Edgar Davids - His presence alone was enough to lift the side, and
though he admittedly faded in his second season, Spurs fans will
always have fond memories of him
Jermaine Jenas - One of the more divisive players in the Spurs
team, he continues to make it hard for his supporters to defend him
in light of his recent poor form, more negative than positive,
despite his talent and goalscoring abilities
Grzegorz Rasiak - The worst signing of Jol's reign, bar none
Young-Pyo Lee - Another player yet to fully win over the crowd, but
has looked good when linking up with Bale
January 2006
Hossam Ghaly - A very poor signing, whichever way you look at
it
Danny Murphy - Never really got the run in the side he probably
deserved
Summer 2006
Benoit Assou-Ekotto - Still very young, but bad form and injuries
have prevented him making a good impression thus far
Dimitar Berbatov - Different class for the majority of his time at
the club, but is still open to accusations of being a flat-track
bully
Dorian Dervitte - Very well thought-of by those in the know, injury
has prevented him breaking through to the first team, but again,
very young
Didier Zokora - Very disappointing thus far
Pascal Chimbonda - The answer to our right-back problem
Steed Malbranque - A player who goes up in my estimation with every
game
January 2007
Ben Alnwick - Yet to play a game, but again, very highly thought
of
Ricardo Rocha - Has looked very poor
Summer 2007
Gareth Bale - A revelation thus far
Yuri Berchiche - One for the future
Adel Taarabt - Popular with the fans, less so with Jol it would
seem
Darren Bent - THE most contentious signing of Jol's reign, and
perhaps the final nail in his coffin. I personally supported the
signing and continue to do so, has not been given the chance to
prove his worth yet though
Danny Rose - Another for the future
Kevin Prince-Boateng - Has only made one appearance thus far, but
another who comes with great promise
Younes Kaboul - Clearly a talented footballer with the ball at his
feet, he needs to become more familiar with the intricacies of his
position.
