nope, I fully support his idea.

what is fundamental about his idea is allowing the locals to have a chance to play in the EPL, their very own league.

he is not suggesting a total ban, but just 5 foreigners..

already you can see the impact of what the foreigners are doing to the EPL game, how many top class english keepers are there??

how many top class english strikers are there? Rooney? Owen?

the local league is choked with foreigners, the English can't do it at the world stage, and it is killing them.

yes, english players are expensive, but this is all demand and supply.
if there are 10 rooneys bursting through, compared to the rare gem now..
the price won't be high..

We all know foreign labour are cheaper, but think of the impact.
Your child may have a talent for soccer, but they will never, I repeat never have a chance to pursue that.

so why dump more and more money to nuture other nations' so that they can kill off English's hopes??

a slap in the face came when gunners played a non-english team and still have the cheek to argue..

it is still the English League afterall.. not a United Nation League, right??

yes, clubs may be impacted, but the future for all ENGLISH or UK footballers, from age 0-18 have a chance to now play professional football.

they now have a better chance if this goes through to play for their favorite clubs, their countries.. what's wrong with that??

We all curse and swear when the national team loses, and we just hate it when we can't do anything.. but with the imports, at least they can be nationalised and play for Singapore. but in UK, they can't..

worse thing, they have to pump money to help other nations' footballers develop and kill off their own footballers hopes and dream of winning the world cup, playing professional football, and playing for the club they supported.

the problem is wif the national team is their big pride n couldnt get along wif one another as some dislike some due to club difference.

one main problem wif england is they welcome foreigners, but yet none of these homeboys daring to go abroad to play for other countries. so they cannot learn when they stick to playing less challenge side.

imo, england ought to send some players to italian or spanish league to learn their skills. even brazilians r playing in european side.

as for going abroad, english players can't survive till to the technicality required, and they often suffer. Till date, I don't think there is one who had the staying power to do well there. maybe beckham..

thus, comes round to the same problem, how to develop youngsters, when the money is spent on foreigners?? and no money flowing into the grass roots..

and no chance for the youngsters to develop..

imagine walcott having the chance like rooney, I bet he may have been the next owen.. instead, when is the last time, you see him play a full match?

thats why i said 5 may be too little maybe 7 or something. the point is to provide chances to allow the english players to learn and play.

It would be abit unlikely to say you cannot find 4 england players to fill up other positions even if the mid fielders cannot? and in such a case as you mentioned then special allowances can be obtained.

actually last time england players have Gascoigne, Ince, Sharpe, and others who done well in abroad. the problem wif some players like owen not doing well there is mainly he chose the wrong club like RM (Raul is untouchable n there's no way owen is better than Ronaldo).

as for Walcott, he is not the only one who face this problem for getting selected. the only chance dat young players to shine is playing for minor cups n B team soccers. gone are the days liverpool cultivate players like owen and fowler. these days most big clubs rather spending money for quality players than to cultivate local homebred.

Actually, this rule don't just involved England... It also involve Spain... Looking at the present Barce and Real squad... How many are actually from that country?

For Barce... their first team already have so many foreigners...

To be fair, its still hard to say what can happen if this becomes a rule... But i think it will be good for England and Spain... Some think that it may effect Tv coverage... But i don't think it will cos it could actually make the league more competitive and also possibly make transfer fee lower than they are right now.

*Volz slams Blatter proposal*

Moritz Volz has hit back at Sepp Blatter's proposed plan to limit the number of foreign players in the Premier League.

The Fifa president wants to see more home-grown players in domestic leagues and is keen to push through a rule which would allow clubs to select only five overseas players in their starting XI.

But Fulham utility player Volz, who left Germany as a 16-year-old to join Arsenal, believes the scheme would simply harm the Premier League.

He told The Times: "In my view it's the Premier League that would suffer most, setting it back years.

"I believe the foreign influx has done nothing but raise the level of English players and the English game. The Premier League is now a cultural melting pot and that benefits everyone involved.

"And it's the combination of the traditionally English with the foreign that makes it what it is. It's the best league in the world precisely because of this cosmopolitan flavour where different styles mingle against the backdrop of English intensity and atmosphere.

"Reduce any of those elements and the Premier League wouldn't be the same."

And Volz believes that forcing clubs to have more English players in the first team would actually reduce standards among young players, rather than raise them.

He said: "Raising the quantity of domestic players in each team does not mean raising the quality.

"So it would be easier for English youngsters to break into a first team, but what have gained by that? It doesn't mean the standards have gone up. If anything they will have gone down because the competition is less.

"And football is all about competition - between teams and within them. That's how the cream rises to the top."
