Walsall have announced that 16-year-old apprentice Anton Reid died
during a training session on Monday morning.
The striker collapsed at the University of Aston but no details of
a cause of death have yet been made public.
Reid came through the League One club's centre of excellence and
had recently began training with the youth team for the first
time.
As a mark of respect, a Pontins Holidays League fixture against
local rivals Wolves which was scheduled for Tuesday night has been
postponed.
A club statement said: "It is with great sadness that we announce
the loss of one of our young apprentice players, Anton Reid.
"Players and staff have been left heartbroken by this terrible
tragedy.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with Anton's parents, family and
friends at this very sad time."
