I drove to Parkroyal on Beach Road and when reaching the
driveway near the lobby, the staff directed me to park at a
reserved slot. My friend's vehicle also parked there. To note, the
staff was not a valet parking staff. When I got off the car, I
asked if I need to pass the keys to him but he said just pay for
his service. I got a shock with what he said and just walked into
the hotel.
When we returned after dinner, he approached us and I thought of
just giving him $5 as tips. Point to note again is that we have to
pay for the car park of several dollars. We got a shock again when
the staff said "Two cars $5 only?". I replied "Not enough?" and he
said never mind.
What kind of attitude is this staff giving? Spoilting the image
of the hotel. Am I wrong to just give him $5? he did nothing - not
opening the door for us or even park the car for us? He is not a
valet after all....
