Diego Forlan has returned to Spain following his Copa
America campaign with Uruguay and is now officially an Atletico
Madrid player following his successful medical test.
An exhausted Diego Forlan stumbled through the terminal at Madrid
Barajas airport this morning, but, despite his clearly bedraggled
physical state, managed a few words for the press.
"Few" being the operative word. Forlan smiled, "I am very, very
happy, but tired from the trip. Let's speak tomorrow." And, with
that, he was off to the Vicente Calderon.
The Uruguayan forward had endured a lengthy flight from Venezuela,
where he'd represented his country in the Copa America. Over the
course of six games, he managed three goals.
His tally included one in Uruguay's 2-2 draw with Brazil in the
semi finals, which La Celeste lost on penalties, Forlan missing his
country's first spot-kick.
Forlan will be given plenty of opportunity to talk to the media
tomorrow, as he's set to be officially unveiled as an Atleti player
at 13:00 local time.
The striker arrived from Villarreal, with whom he spent three years
and managed to exceed a 0.5 goal per game ratio in La
Liga.
