Atletico Madrid have agreed a deal to sign Diego Forlan
from Villarreal.
The former Manchester United ace was being tracked by a host of
clubs, with a number of Premiership sides looking to bring him back
to England.
However, Atletico have moved for Forlan as they seem to have
secured a ready-made replacement for captain Fernando Torres.
Liverpool are widely expected to finalise a deal for Torres in the
coming days, in a transfer now believed to be worth 32million
(£24.2million) plus Luis Garcia.
Of the 32million, 21million (£14.1million) of that has been used
to purchase Forlan.
Atletico have confirmed that Forlan has agreed a four-year deal at
the Vicente Calderon.
"Atletico Madrid, Villarreal and the representative of Diego Forlan
have reached an agreement for the transfer of the Uruguayan player
to the Rojiblanco club for the next four seasons," said a club
statement.
