Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill has ruled out the
possibility of veteran Patrick Berger leaving the club on
loan.
The former Czech Republic international signed a new one-year deal
with Villa last month yet was linked with a loan move to League One
side Oldham - much to the surprise of his manager who insists the
ex-Liverpool and Portsmouth star is staying.
"It's the first I've heard of it. I just don't know where that
story came from," said the Aston Villa manager.
He added: "Patrik Berger has agreed new one-year contract and I'm
delighted about that.
"There's no chance of him being sent out on loan - absolutely no
chance of that.
"He did enough over the last few months of the season to earn
another deal and he's very much in our plans for next
season."
