Chris Coleman looks set for a shock return to football
as the new manager of Real Sociedad.
Since being dismissed as Fulham boss towards the close of last
season, Coleman has been linked with several posts, including the
likes of Manchester City and Sheffield United, but it now looks as
though he could pitch up on foreign shores.
Sociedad are on the lookout for a new coach following relegation
from La Liga last season and, Coleman has emerged as a front-runner
having been recommended to the club by John Toshack - a former
manager at the Basque outfit.
Coleman is reportedly currently in Spain to discuss terms with
Sociedad officials and the move is given more credence, by the fact
he has in the past spoken of a desire to manage abroad.
"We see a lot of foreign coaches coming here but not many British
guys going abroad," he told the Sun.
"Coaching abroad would improve me as a boss. You see a different
side of football, a different culture."
Should Coleman strike an accord with Sociedad then it is expected
that his former assistant Steve Kean, who speaks Spanish, would
make the move with him.
