Barca To Net Chivu For Giuly,
Belletti And 12m
Roma sporting director Daniele Prade has confirmed that he
met with Barcelona officials to discuss the transfer of Christian
Chivu, and there are suggestions that a deal has been
struck.
Though Prade insisted that nothing had been decided yet, and that
there would be another meeting next week, it is being suggested
that only the formal details remain to be ironed out.
As Goal.com had reported earlier this morning, Barcelona vice
president Ferran Soriano had traveled to Rome to discuss the
transfer.
He and sporting director Txiki Beguiristain both met Prade this
morning, and the Roma sporting director admitted that it was a
fruitful meeting.
"It was a positive meeting, although only a preliminary one," he
said.
"There are no reasons to be optimistic or pessimistic, though, and
we will meet with them again next week.
"They are a serious outfit and are interested in the player
[Chivu], but they have not presented an official offer.
"This meeting also proves that there are no negotiations underway
with Inter."
Il Romanista have followed these comments up with inside news on
what transpired. They suggest that an informal deal was struck, one
which would see Barcelona offer Ludovic Giuly, Juliano Belletti or
Sylvinho, and 12 million euros in exchange for Chivu.
The paper-work is expected to be completed early next week, when
Barcelona will return with an official offer.
The Catalan giants are keen to complete the deal quickly after
losing skipper Carles Puyol until October, to a knee ligament
injury. With Yaya Toures signing set to be completed on Sunday,
Monday could be an important day in the career of Chivu.
