After losing out to Inter Milan in the race for David
Suazo, AC Milan are set to launch a bid for Valencia's star striker
David Villa.
The Milan bosses have once again been forced to intensify their
search for a front man, and while that have not given up on their
hopes of landing either Andriy Shevchenko or Samuel Eto'o, a plan B
is now in place.
The Corriere dello Sport suggest that the Rossoneri will make an
approach for David Villa, offering Valencia 16 million euros and
Ricardo Oliveira (rated at 8-10 million) in a bid to convince them
to sell.
If true, it will be a rather optimisting approach, as Valencia are
unlikely to accept anything less than 40 million euros for the
player.
However, there are suggestions that Milan are making the offer
simply to test the waters, and will improve their bid if the Che
bosses show a willingness to sell.
Thus far, Valencia have only mentioned a rather prohibitive 70
million sum in order to ward off interest, and the forward has
himself pledged his future to the club.
However, Quique Sanchez Flores' plans for the summer are as yet
unknown, after he finally managed to wrest control of the technical
side of the club from Amedeo Carboni.
If Valencia do decide to sell, there is likely to be nothing short
of war, with Chelsea and Liverpool both keen on him as well.
