Blues Scout Doubts Nani Ability

Chelsea scout Piet de Visser has had a dig at Manchester United, claiming new signing Nani may not be good enough for the Premiership.

De Visser has been asked by Blues owner Roman Abramovich to identify young talent to bring to Stamford Bridge, but has cast doubt on whether United's big-money signing can cut it in the English league.

Dutchman De Visser admits the 20-year-old midfielder has huge potential, but reckons his crossing lets him down and claims he holds onto the ball for too long.

De Visser, who recommended John Obi Mikel to Chelsea, told The Sun: "This boy is, as far as his skills are concerned, a super talent.

"He had his training with Sporting Lisbon and technically he is so good, he is almost perfect.

"But I also stress that despite all his talent he may not be right for the Premier League.

"His crosses are sometimes OK, sometimes bad.

"He dribbles too much with the ball because he wants to entertain, not because he wants to be effective.

"Cristiano Ronaldo had the same problem when he first played for United."

Sour grapes. Rolling Eyes

They also stole John Obi Mikel from Man Utd. Well, not that we really needed that kind of person around anyway. So it's all good.

good comments... I just love it.

cause you know what, now Nani will be fired up.. and boy, that will rub on big brother, Ronaldo, and then Carlos.. and eventually, Sir Alex..

well, when your biggest enemy came into your backyard and stole your crown jewels, what you expect?? "the crown jewels are not good, they are imperfect"..

Never mind lor.. next season, we see how lor.

Im willing to wait a season oo 2 for Nani to develop..To ask him to explode immediately on the big stage is a tall order

glacer SG

Quite true though, Nani probably needs to work on his crosses, then, he would be a force together with C.Ronaldo and explode to the world stage, just like what C.Ronaldo did, then! Suddenly, Man U’s wing would be one of the best!

hope Nani will shine then move to Chelsea

United slammed over Nani deal

Chelsea scout Piet de Visser insists Manchester United paid over-the-odds for Nani.

The Dutchman, a personal adviser to Blues owner Roman Abramovich and one of their main scouts, is known as one of the best judges of talent in Europe.

Talking to Dutch television, de Visser revealed that he and Chelsea were well aware of Nani - but he was not worth the money that United paid.

"Of course we knew about Nani for a long time," he told Tien TV.

"He is a talent, but if you look at the European Championshop in Portugal and the current tournament in the Netherlands - Nani has not shown any progress.

"Therefore I think Manchester United have paid too much money for a player who has talent, but has not developed since last year."

De Visser also revealed that he was looking at up to four players at the current European Under-21 tournament.

right..so how much did you pay for 30yr old shev?

Now why do Chelsea need scouts when most of their purchases were already huge stars to begin with. Oh, i remember now, to scout and hijack bids. It's a joke. Wink

Cheers.

Ha he’s still not over it?

What do chelsea scouts know.........they just steal other clubs' transfer targets Laughing

But I think that Nani will need time to develop like ronaldo.

4getmenot SG

so hes known as one of the best scouts in europe..i wonder how many talents he actually recruited in his time at chelsea..? and his last sentence about Ronaldo made me laugh.. "he dribbles too much like Ronaldo.."

Hello.... maybe he didn't read the newspapers and or watch the last season's premiere league? or has he being busy smoking pots?? Mr. Green

I believe in EPL history, Fergie and Wenger are top managers who can get most out of their players esp youths.

And Fergie has the knowledge/experiences of working with youngsters, look at Giggs, beckham, Ronaldo, Rooney, most importantly also, the know-hows of nuturing/supporting them when they are in a slump. See how Beckham, Ronaldo and Rooney bouncing back from a dismay WC.

That's great advertisements for all youth players, "hey, this Fergie guy can protect and shelter, unless others".

So I think Nani is in good hands.

Yes, perhaps like the Blue Scout said, he is not good enough, but I believe Fergie has spotted some quality in him and willing to polish him.
Rem, Ronaldo only managed to shine after a season in MUFC.

And Nani has a few role models like Giggs, Ronaldo, Scholes to follow.

Perhaps everyone is too focus on Nani's rawness, but Fergie has seen the final product, like a master. Well, time will prove everyone.. a flop or a diamond?!! We shall see.

to me, this is the key phrase ->
"Therefore I think Manchester United have paid too much money for a player who has talent, but has not developed since last year."

but now, he is at United, where he can work day in/out with some of the best players. And instead of a guaranteed place, he now know he has to re-prove himself.

I bet that's motivation and hunger to prove he is good enough or even better than Ronaldo.

I think it is wrong to limit people. Cause some do out-perform when placed in different environment.

Similarly, I do have many friends who graduate from NTU or NUS even though they were from ITE.
