Chris Hutchings: "This is an excellent signing for us" Laughing

Wigan boss Chris Hutchings has made his first foray into the transfer market by snapping up former Newcastle defender Titus Bramble. Bramble was shown the door following an error-filled spell on Tyneside, but his availability on a free transfer alerted a clutch of clubs.

Portsmouth were believed to be leading the hunt for the 25-year-old, but he has instead headed to The JJB Stadium. Bramble has been handed a three-year deal and Hutchings is delighted with his first dip into the transfer market.

"This is an excellent signing for us," Hutchings told the club's official website. "He will add experience to the back four and now we must keep up the chase for further targets. "Other clubs were very interested and it speaks volumes for us as a club that he has chosen to come here."

Chris Hutchings

Management career

He took charge as Bradford's manager during the 2000-2001 season after Jewell moved to Sheffield Wednesday. However, he lasted only 21 games, including just one win in 12 Premiership games, and was sacked in November 2000.

Hutchings was appointed as Wigan Athletic manager following the resignation of Paul Jewell on 14 May 2007...

Is history about to repeat itself ? Mr. Green

With the inclusion of Bramble, i think this time he'll last shorter than 21 games Mr. Green

WTH are they thinking??? Laughing

i think birmingham, sunderland, derby and the likes are cheering and toasting champagne upon hearing the news.

I dun understand their logic - Wigan is a decent team and they are going down the toilet by signing the wrong players - Celeb Folan was decent in front -scored a few goals, and I especially like Schaner (the Austrian defender). And by signing Bramble, they have booked an advanced ticket down. Guess they feel that Coca Cola sounds better than Barclays.

up e lorry, wigan

Lets give Bramble some chance. Maybe for Newcastle he could not shoulder the heavy responsibility? At Wigan maybe new strategies and tactics to fully utilise him?

with that signing, Wigan is doomed….
