Premiership - West Ham United have agreed an undisclosed fee
with Newcastle United for the transfer of midfielder Scott
Parker.
The midfielder is now set to link up with former boss Alan
Curbishley, under whom Parker rose to prominence with some
impressive performances for Charlton Athletic.
After a short, injury-hit spell at Chelsea, Parker moved on to
Newcastle in a £6 million deal, though failed to fulfil his early
potential on Tyneside, and is expected to head back to
London.
Press reports on Friday morning indicated West Ham were prepared to
make Parker the highest-paid player in their history.
Tottenham were said to have mounted a late bid to tempt Parker to
White Hart Lane, though were outdone by the huge wage offered by
the Hammers.
