In-demand Nugent will bide time
David Nugent said yesterday that he would wait until after next
month's European Under-21 Championship in the Netherlands before
deciding on his future. The £5m-rated forward, who scored on his
England debut in the 3-0 win over Andorra, has been linked with
Everton, Aston Villa and Sunderland after Preston's failure to win
promotion. He has one year left on his contract.
"Every time I pick up a paper I'm linked with a different club,"
the 22-year-old said. "I have been playing football since the
league season finished and I am going to be playing all summer as
well. So I will have to think about it when I get back."
