Arsenal join in the pursuit of Bale
Arsenal have joined Tottenham and Manchester United in the race to
sign Gareth Bale. Southampton last night began talks with the Wales
left-back's representatives and although they are prepared to offer
the 17-year-old a new contract, initial indications suggest he will
decide to make the step up to the Premiership immediately.
Manchester United and Tottenham made offers for Bale in January but
his Saints deal expires at the end of next season and after
nurturing him since the age of nine, they will not want to risk
losing him for a significantly reduced fee.
