The Quadruple (Football)
To date, only one European team has accomplished the feat:
In 1967, Celtic F.C. won
The Scottish First Division by three points over Rangers.
The Scottish Cup, beating Aberdeen in the final, 2 - 0.
The Scottish League Cup, beating Rangers in the final, 1 - 0.
The European Cup, beating Inter Milan in the final, 2 - 1.
Celtic also won the Glasgow Cup beating Partick Thistle 4-0 taking
their tally of trophys to, a world record, five in one
season.
Minor Quadruples
Some teams have won 4 or 5 competitions in one calendar year,
however this is not considered a quadruple as the trophies were won
over two football seasons.
For example, Manchester United in 1999 won the FIFA World Club
Championship (and lost the UEFA Super Cup final to Lazio) in the
season following winning the FA Premiership, the FA Cup, and the
UEFA Champions League.
In this season Manchester United also reached the quarter finals of
the League Cup, coming close to a legitimate Quadruple. In similar
fashion, Liverpool in 2001 won the UEFA Super Cup in the season
subsequent to victories in the FA Cup, the League Cup, and the UEFA
Cup.
Liverpool - The 2001 team won a unique treble of the FA Cup, League
Cup and UEFA Cup. The club also went on to capture the FA Community
Shield and European Super Cup, making them the first English team
to win five trophies in one year.
