zocoss SG vs West Ham v Chelsea Cole braced for hostile reception Cole makes his first return to Upton Park since his departure Chelsea midfielder Joe Cole returns to West Ham, knowing he could play a major role in relegating his former club. Cole returns to Upton Park on Wednesday for the first time since his departure in 2003 as Chelsea seek the win to keep the pressure on Manchester United. The 25-year-old said: "I did everything I could for West Ham and when they went down I was as gutted as anyone. "I imagine I'll get some stick but that's football, supporters don't like to see players leave their club." Wednesday evening's clash is crucial for both teams' ambitions at the extremes of the Premiership table. Chelsea need the points to maintain the pressure on Premiership leaders Manchester United, who restored their six-point lead with Tuesday's win over Sheffield United. West Ham's Premiership survival is an equation of seeking points in a rapidly decreasing number of games, with the Hammers travelling to Old Trafford on the last day of the season. Cole has played against West Ham at Stamford Bridge but has never been back to the Boleyn Ground in a Blues shirt. For two season's following Cole's departure, Chelsea and West Ham were in different divisions and the England midfielder was suspended for the January 2006 encounter. Cole was accused of jumping ship when West Ham were relegated and he left for Stamford Bridge in a £6.6m deal. The England midfielder said: "Chelsea came calling and I couldn't turn it down. "Chelsea has been just amazing for me and I owe the people here a lot."
